Further PS3 Technology Revealed
It is well known and expected that the PS3 will support some amazing NextGen technologies and Factor 5 has gone into some excellent detail of what some of the new technologies can be expected in their upcoming title "Lair"
With the new Cell technology of the PS3 and it's amazing ability to run millions and millions of operations simultaneously, Lair will be able to support some pretty incredible NextGen technologies.
Below is a pretty good list of what to expect:
-Progressive Mesh- * Progressive Mesh is a technique using the Cell to allow incredible amounts of detail to be placed upon many objects, both up-close and far away.
-High-Dynamic Range Lighting-
* All of the lights, shadows, reflections, and highlights are in HDR, and are done in real-time by the Cell and RSX. This allows for realistic day-time and night lighting.
-Real-time Dynamic Physics-
* Lair renders physics effects on everything from your dragon to the thousands of enemy soldiers fighting on the ground. All the enemies and allies have their own physics-driven animations, including ragdoll animations.
-Real-time Fluid Dynamics-
* All of the water effects in Lair, such as waves, are run by real-time fluid dynamics on the Cell.
-Parallax Shaders-
* Parallax shaders are used on almost every single object in Lair, including fire and clouds.
-Real-Time Renderings/Volumetric Effects-
* The fire in Lair is rendered in real-time, and has it's own physics. All of the clouds, smoke effects, and even fog effects are volumetric. Lava, rain, wind, fur, and even more are also rendered in real-time.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma New Trailer
The newest Ninja Gaiden Sigma trailer has just been put out. The action looks to be pretty fun, but I cannot say I am all that impressed with the looks of the graphics. This type of thing makes me wonder if the ultra high expectations on the power of the playstation 3 could actually hurt it's success. The game company's out there will really have to learn to utilize all of the power the PS3 will have to offer, hopefully that will happen soon.
Interesting.... PS3 commercial
Well there is not a whole lot that I can say about this latest PS3 commercial that would be better than jus watching it. Some words that do come to mind however include: creepy, weird, strange, odd, confusing, interesting, I could go on. But wouldn't you rather just see it? I am not sure who is heading up PS3's ad campaign, but I think he may have been traumatized as a child.
Sony Releases New Screen Shots for Def Jam: Icon

Sony May Not Meet PlayStation 3 Shipments Targets
"Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., the No. 1 maker of game consoles, said it may not deliver the planned amount of the PlayStation 3 (PS3) gaming consoles by the year end and by March, 2007. The company seems to still blame limited amount of Blu-ray disc components for its problems.
Sony earlier said it would only be able to ship 400 thousand of PlayStation 3 game consoles to the U.S. and 100 thousand to Japan for the launch in November, 2006. During the whole calendar year 2006 the company aims to distribute, according to news reports, two million new-generation consoles, two times less than anticipated. But the company does not seem to be sure it would meet its “targets”." Read More
Well you know what this means, the demand for Sony Playstation 3's can only go up. I hope you got your pre-order in, or don't have a problem waiting in line all night to get yours. Otherwise, you will just have to depend on a little bit of luck, or shelling out a whoel lot of cash on E-bay or the like.

IGN Gets an early Christmas Gift!
The lucky boys (and girls) over at IGN 1 week ago Sony brought a prototype of the much anticipated PS3 for IGN to play around with and check out the interface...aka drool over... etc. But now Sony has gone one step further, and provided IGN with a boxed prototype of the PS3, with 5 games included to play. I think their may be some brawl's over there at the IGN offices over who gets to play NEXT. I know I'd throw down for the chance, lol.
Well IGN has been kind enough to take pictures of the un-wrapping of their boxed PS3, to show the world. Or perhaps they they just wanted to brag a little. Either way, their are some nice pictures to check out here. So go ahead and check em out... try not to drool on yourself though.

Virtua Tennis 3
Back when I had a Dreamcast, Virtua Tennis was by far one of my favorite games to play. It was one of those few games that i could always play and never got tired of.
As for this video, the graphics are really not all that stunning. the movements look a little more fluid of course, and the cut scenes aren't bad. But it does not look like it really utilizes the power of the PS3. However, do not let this deter you from checking this game out. If it is anything like the first Dreamcast version, it should be a damn fun game!
Sonic the Hedgehog Preview Video
This is a preview of the new Sonic the Hedgehog game coming out for PS3. I must say in the beginning of the video, I thought I was watching a final fantasy intro. But that quickly changes about halfway through.
The action looks intense and entertaining. Definately will be looking forward to seeing more of this one.
Preview of NHL 2K7
For all your hockey fans out there, this is a pretty promising look at the PS3's first hockey offering. The gameplay looked pretty fun, with some great looking features and game modes.
Video Highlights:
-The beginning of the video showed pretty smooth gameplay, nice rendering, etc etc... -There is of couse a fight feature in the game (what hockey game is complete without one). Towards the end of the video it shows a fight that ends with what almost looks like a wrestling move. -A unique shooting mode was shown, much like max payne's bullet time, where you can actually aim where in the net you would like to shoot the puck. There is also the ability to control the goalie from a first person perspective, very cool. -A unique looking game mode that was shown was a sort of keep-away for multiplayers. Whoever kept the puck longest won from the looks of it.
A Look at the PS3 Console
With the release of the PS3 coming in approximately 1 month, I can't help but get excited... maybe even a little bit giddy. With the release of the console, perhaps even better is seeing sneak previews of what games will be coming out for the Next Gen console. THAT is what we will cover here. I hope to bring you all of the latest video clips of the upcoming ps3 games that will begin to flood the market in the very near future.
But before I begin posting some truely awesome videos, I think that it is only fitting that I post a video of the actual console.
