Some more PS3 numbers to munch on According to the research firm NPD Group, Sony sold a total of 490,700 Playstation 3 consoles in the month of December. Combine this with NPD's estimates of 687,700 consoles sold in November, and that is nearly 1.2 million consoles sold since PS3's US launch date of Nov. 17th.

While this is not necessarily a bad number, Sony could have sold multiples more than this number if they could have provided a larger supply to retails. In my own personal opinion, Sony has really hurt themselves with a sub-par release of a top notch system. Not only did they not meet the demand, but their game lineup left a whole lot to be desired. Nearly two months later, there are still no impressive titles for the PS3.

Sony can only hope that people will not lose faith in the PS3 until they can get their act together and release some quality games that will show it's true power.  ¶ 8:37 PM
